James, the Earl of Wessex and son of Prince Edward and Sophie, Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, is awaiting his GCSE results.

The 16-year-old, who generally keeps a low profile, will join thousands of teenagers at this important academic moment.

Like his older sister, Lady Louise Windsor, who received her own GCSE results, James’ results are also expected to remain private.

Despite being fifteenth in line to the throne, James takes his education very seriously. In fact, he was absent from this year’s Trooping the Colour parade due to the school exam season.

What do the experts say about Duchess Sophie’s son?

A few months ago, BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond shared some insights into James’ current situation and what the future might hold for him.

“We know James to be an affable and popular young man, who enjoys the outdoors, especially at Balmoral. Fly fishing with his mother is one of his favorite activities, and he is said to be quite good at it. He enjoys barbecues…. He can flip a burger like an expert! And, like his sister, he’s been raised to relate to all kinds of people, enjoying parties and get-togethers with friends.” He revealed in an interview with OK!

The expert believes that James in the future will not take the traditional route of military service, that he will most likely enter college and then pursue a professional career.

“It’s unlikely that James will ever use his HRH title or inherit the Dukedom of Edinburgh. This gives him a level of freedom that’s difficult to achieve within the royal family,” Jennie added.

Sophie and Edward have managed to keep their children out of the public eye, and James, even more so than Louise, has remained largely off the radar.

However, he is described as a sociable young man who is likely to continue to attend official functions, albeit without becoming a full-time royal.
