The move of King Juan Carlos to the Dominican Republic is already underway. As reported, the monarch emeritus wants to change of scene after spending almost three months in Abu Dhabi.
The father of King Felipe announced on August 3 that he was leaving Spain even though the investigations into his finances have not concluded. The decision caused a stir but was ultimately accepted.
The Dominican Republic emerged as the ideal destination for the emeritus due to its connections with friends and businessmen from the Caribbean country, but finally it opted for the United Arab Emirates.
Moving of King Juan Carlos to the Dominican Republic
After several months in the Arab country and before the change that his return to Spain brought, the king asked his close friend, the sailor Pedro Campos, to manage a “stable refuge” in the Dominican Republic.
They stressed that since the king left Spain he has maintained contact with his friends whom he misses.
According to the El Confidencial portal, sources close to the emeritus made it clear that the intention of the former head of state is to move his residence in a more stable way to the Dominican Republic in the coming weeks.
