Actress Justine Bateman has once again voiced her strong opinions about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, accusing the couple of portraying themselves as perpetual victims since stepping away from their royal duties in 2020.
The “Family Ties” and “Desperate Housewives” star did not hold back in her latest critique, particularly targeting Meghan’s recent Netflix project, “With Love, Meghan.”
Bateman Calls Out Harry & Meghan’s ‘Victim Olympics’
In a blog post titled “The Problem With Meghan Markle: It’s Not What She’s Doing, It’s the Victim Olympics Road She Took to Get There,” Bateman took aim at what she sees as the Duchess of Sussex’s reliance on a victim narrative to fuel her career.
She argued that the disappointing viewership of the Netflix show was proof that audiences are no longer interested in watching someone who, in her words, is “playacting at something they didn’t earn.”
Bateman, who has been outspoken about the Sussexes in the past, criticized their approach to public life. She remarked that every opportunity they have pursued in recent years has been linked to what she called their “very aggressive Victim Olympics campaign.”
According to her, while this strategy may have resonated with some people initially, “it’s 2025, and no one wants to see victims anymore.”
Despite her harsh criticism, Bateman made it clear that she doesn’t wish Meghan any harm. She acknowledged that the Duchess has every right to explore new business ventures, whether through Netflix, her lifestyle brand As Ever, or her podcast “Confessions of a Female Founder.”
However, she also emphasized that the public has the right to reject a narrative they no longer find compelling.
This isn’t the first time Bateman has taken issue with Harry and Meghan’s public presence.
In January, she slammed their visit to an evacuation center following the devastating Eaton fire in Pasadena. She accused them of using the tragedy as a “photo op,” likening their actions to those of “ambulance chasers.”
“They are ‘touring the damage’? Are they politicians now? They don’t live here; they are tourists. Disaster tourists,” she wrote.
