Recently, Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, made a touching public appearance.
The princess had the opportunity to meet Liz Hatton, a 17-year-old photographer who has been battling a rare form of cancer.
Liz made headlines this week after her endearing embrace with Kate, a moment that symbolized the hope and resilience of both of them in their battle against the disease.
Liz Hatton has bravely faced her diagnosis of a desmoplastic small round cell tumor, which was detected in January.
Doctors have predicted six months to three years to live.
This challenge led Liz and her mother, Robayna, to develop a “bucket list” in which they included experiences that Liz longed to fulfill in the time she has left.
One of these dreams was to photograph a royal event, a wish that was fulfilled when she was invited to capture the Honors Ceremony presided over by Prince William.
During this event, Liz not only had the responsibility of taking pictures but also shared a special moment with the royal couple.
On their official Instagram account, the Prince and Princess of Wales posted photos of the encounter, where Kate expressed:
“A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength have inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us.” ❤️ W&C, read the release.
Although initially few details of this emotional meeting were known, new revelations have emerged in an interview that Liz and her family gave to the British newspaper The Times.
Details of the meeting between Kate Middleton and Liz Hatton
Liz described her meeting with the princess as a “crazy” and “insane” week.
Her family was skeptical at the prospect of meeting Prince William and Kate, until, to their surprise, they were invited into a private room.
The young woman recounted the moments leading up to their meeting, recalling that her younger brother, Mateo, had predicted that they would indeed meet Prince William before they arrived.
Liz recalled that, at first, she thought she would only have the opportunity to exchange a quick hello with the prince, but once in the room, the royal couple entered and made her feel truly privileged to share a sofa with them.
The conversation between Liz and Kate focused on her passion for photography, rather than the challenges they face due to cancer.
Liz’s mother mentioned in the interview with The Times that the family oncologist had indicated that her daughter’s life expectancy was six months to two years.
Faced with this uncertainty, Liz reflected:
“It is uncertain how long I have, how long I’ll live. But it is certain that it won’t be for a long time. And so because of that, I feel like the only thing you can do is do as much as possible, as much as possible of what you want to do and what you enjoy,” the teen said. “And to spend it with the people you love.”
This encounter not only highlighted Liz Hatton’s strength and indomitable spirit but also brought out Kate Middleton’s humanity.
Both women, when faced with adversity, have found in their connection to each other a source of inspiration and hope, reminding us of the importance of empathy and support in difficult times.
