2024 has been a complicated year for Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales.
Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with cancer, and most of the months were spent focusing entirely on her recovery.
But there is good news. Everything seems to be looking up for Kate, as on December 25 she made her long-awaited return to the royal family during the traditional Christmas walk at Sandringham.
This event marked an emotional return to this tradition. For Kate, it was the first time she interacted with the public since her last appearance at Christmas the previous year.

The walk became a poignant moment not only for the Princess of Wales, but also for many who had been eagerly awaiting her return.
For the occasion, Princess Kate chose an elegant green coat by Alexander McQueen, which she had already worn during a visit to Leeds in 2023.
She combined her outfit with a headdress and matching scarf, as well as black gloves and boots. Interestingly, Kate wore the same color as Queen Camilla, who led the walk, accompanied by her husband, King Charles.
Kate’s presence on Christmas Day with Prince William and their children—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6—was heartwarming and encouraging.
Kate was warm as she interacted with those who came to wish her well, receiving hugs, handshakes, and heartfelt holiday wishes.
She didn’t stop to greet everyone, and it was evident that she enjoyed the warmth of the audience. Her joy and relief were reflected on her face as she smiled and chatted with the crowd.
One of the highlights was when she received a sweet drawing from her daughter, Princess Charlotte.
The princess knelt down to greet a young fan who handed her the artwork, prompting Kate to “flash a beaming smile as she accepted the gift,” The Sun reported.
In an endearing gesture, Kate said, “Did you miss Charlotte?” referring to the fact that the drawing was of her only daughter. “Shall I give it to her when I get back home?” she asked intrigued.
“That’s so kind of you,” Princess Kate replied, extending a cordial hand to the little girl and wishing her a “Merry Christmas.”
In a funny moment, she even joked with the audience, “I think I’ve lost my family!” realizing she was the last member of the royal family on the tour.
William and his children were a good distance away, patiently waiting for Kate to finish chatting with people so they could return to Sandringham and enjoy their Christmas lunch.
This return of Kate Middleton was a breath of fresh air, a reminder of the Christmas spirit and the support the community has for their future queen.
Her joy and connection with the public were proof that, despite the difficulties, there is always a way forward.
