Goldsmith’s remarks about the royal family have been a highlight of his time on Celebrity Big Brother.
He painted a picture of a “normal” Prince William, recalling the first time he met him, when Kate was cooking, and William offered him a cup of tea.
This anecdote humanizes the future king, portraying him as down-to-earth and relatable.
“First time I met William, Catherine was cooking and William said, ‘Hi, do you want a cup of tea?’ Very normal,” he recalled.
However, Goldsmith didn’t shy away from addressing the well-publicized tensions between Prince William and Prince Harry. He commended William for handling the situation with grace, saying,
“He’s done an amazing job in that horrible situation and he’s had an olive branch open all the time for his brother to come back,” said.
This statement suggests that William has been open to reconciliation, despite the ongoing rift.
Goldsmith also provided insights into Kate Middleton’s life as a royal, revealing that it can be “difficult to get hold of her at the best of times” due to her family commitments.
He expressed pride in her prioritizing her family, saying, “I love the fact that she’s putting family first.” This sentiment portrays Kate as a devoted mother, despite the demands of her royal duties.
“she’s got children and I love the fact that she’s putting family first,” adding.
Participant Ekin-Su Culculoglu asked Gary where the Princess of Wales was after her recent surgery.
Gary kindly replied:
“Because she doesn’t want to talk about it, there’s a code of etiquette. If it’s announced, I’ll give you my opinion. I spoke to her mum, my sister, she’s getting the best care in the world and all the family’s done is put the wagon down to put family first.” And he added: “She’ll be back, of course she will.”
Interestingly, Goldsmith also addressed the dynamics within the royal family after Meghan Markle’s arrival.
He subtly suggested that Meghan’s presence disrupted the camaraderie between Prince William, Kate, and Prince Harry, describing it as “an extra dynamic that comes in, puts a stick in the spokes and creates so much drama.”
“I have the opinion that Harry was really, really, really loved, massively loved, and when they were a threesome – Kate, William and Harry – were really comfortable together, loved,” Gary said.
He further criticized Harry’s decision to “throw his family under a bus” and write books about his experiences, implying that it was an unfair portrayal of the royal family.
Despite the tensions, Goldsmith expressed hope for a reconciliation, saying, “I think he [Harry] might need to [come back]. I think we’re a very forgiving nation.”
This sentiment highlights the possibility of mending the rift and reuniting the once-close brothers.
Goldsmith also praised King Charles III for his “spectacular” work, showcasing his support and respect for the monarch. This positive remark about Charles III further solidifies Goldsmith’s loyalty to the royal family.
Overall, Gary Goldsmith’s revelations on Celebrity Big Brother have shed light on the complexities of royal life.
