The news of Kate Middleton’s surgery surprised the world.
Although the operation was already scheduled, the information was released by Kensington Palace on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, detailing that the abdominal surgery had been a success.
“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” the statement said. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
But for royal expert Phil Dampier, the surgery had to be serious to keep the princess away from her royal duties for so long.
Adding to the speculation about the seriousness of the surgery is Prince William’s reaction.
Kate Middleton hospitalized
Following Kate’s hospitalization at the London Clinic, Prince William reacted by canceling all his official duties and will not take on any work while his wife is in the hospital, reports the Daily Mail.
William wants to be with his wife during her recovery in the hospital and spend more time with their children, George, Charlotte and Louis, while Kate is hospitalized.
At the same time, the Daily Mail notes that William will also not perform any official duties in the period immediately following Kate’s return home, and all scheduled international travel has been canceled.
Kate Middleton surgery
The family has chosen to keep Kate’s health details confidential, and royal officials said they would provide updates on her recovery as appropriate.
Prince William’s last public appearance was on Jan. 11, six days before Kensington Palace’s announcement about Princess Kate.
Kate, on the other hand, has not been seen in public since Dec. 25, when she attended a Christmas Day service at Sandringham with her husband, their three children and the rest of the royal family.
