In an act of courage and dedication to her royal duties, Kate Middleton has been granted a new honorary title in the midst of her cancer treatment.
The announcement comes on a day of great significance for the United Kingdom, April 23, when St. George’s Day, the patron saint of England, is celebrated.
The day is marked by parades and ceremonies, and this year was particularly significant because of the new decorations awarded by the monarch.
Kate Middleton’s new title
His Majesty King Charles III, in recognition of the Princess’s dedication and support of the arts, has awarded Kate the title of “Royal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honour”.
This new role for the Princess of Wales comes in the midst of her preventive chemotherapy treatment, as she herself announced on her social media a few weeks ago.
The revelation of her illness came after a period of speculation and concern over the discreet handling of her diagnosis.
The connection between King Charles and Kate Middleton
King Charles III, who has also been diagnosed with cancer, has shown unwavering support for Princess Kate, his daughter-in-law.
Their shared illness has strengthened their relationship, demonstrating a mutual concern and effort to overcome health challenges in order to fulfill their official responsibilities.
Unlike the Princess, who has chosen to withdraw from public life during her treatment, the King has continued to appear at selected events, demonstrating his commitment to the country.
A historic recognition
The Order of the Companions of Honour, created by King George V in 1917, is one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious honors.
It is awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves in a variety of fields.
The Princess of Wales is the first Royal Companion to be appointed to the Order, joining a select group of distinguished individuals including David Attenborough, Elton John, Anna Wintour, Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.
New roles for Prince William and Queen Camilla
Prince William has also been given a new title: Grand Master of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, a position that has been vacant since King Charles III ascended the throne in 2022.
Queen Camilla was appointed Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by her husband, the King.
Double celebration: Prince Louis’ birthday
In addition to their new roles, Prince William and Princess Kate have another reason to celebrate: the sixth birthday of their son, Prince Louis.
The royal couple shared a beautiful photo of the prince in Windsor Castle, taken by Kate herself.
The image is unretouched, unlike the earlier controversy over an edited photo of the princess with her children on Mother’s Day.
