Every year, the island of Mustique becomes the perfect retreat for the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, and her family.
With white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, this paradisiacal corner in the Caribbean has been for years the favorite destination of the princess, who on this occasion traveled with Prince William and her three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
Kate Middleton on Vacation
Their getaway coincided with the BAFTA Awards ceremony, which in previous editions was attended by the Prince and Princess of Wales. However, this year they opted to take a break and enjoy a few days away from the spotlight.
The family’s journey did not go unnoticed. To reach their destination, the princes boarded a British Airways commercial flight from London to St. Lucia, before taking a private flight to Mustique.
What caught the attention of many was that they traveled together, something that, according to an ancient unwritten rule in royalty, should be avoided.
This rule suggests that heirs to the throne should not travel on the same mode of transport to ensure the continuity of the monarchy in the event of an accident.
Although not a formal prohibition, it has been followed more strictly in the past. However, over the years, this custom has been relaxed.
According to sources close to the royals, the island of Mustique is an ideal destination for them not only for its beauty, but for the privacy it offers.
Unlike other tourist spots, here they can enjoy the beach and the sun without the constant worry of paparazzi.
Mustique’s history with the Prince and Princess of Wales is not new. Kate and William have traveled to the island on several occasions, including when their eldest son, Prince George, was just 18 months old.
In the past, the family has also opted to summer there during July, extending their stay by several weeks.
For Kate and William, these days in Mustique have been an opportunity to share quality time with their children, away from official commitments.
With warm temperatures and a relaxed atmosphere, it is not difficult to understand why the family has preferred an escape to the Caribbean instead of the red carpet of the BAFTAs.
