After a year full of challenges, Princess Kate Middleton has resumed one of her most significant roles in the royal family: welcoming foreign dignitaries.
This time, the future British queen was at the side of her husband, Prince William, to welcome the Emir of Qatar, who is visiting the UK for the next two days.
Kate Middleton receives the Emir of Qatar in the UK
On an overcast Tuesday morning, December 3, Kate and the Prince of Wales opened a day full of royal ceremonies with a flourish.
They were the first royals to meet the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani.
They then took the couple to Horse Guards Parade, where a ceremonial welcome was held, including a greeting from King Charles.
Notably absent from the event was Queen Camilla, who has been dealing with the after-effects of a chest infection.
For this special occasion, Kate dazzled in a burgundy coat designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, complemented by an elegant hat by Sahar Millinery.
She also wore some jewelry that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II, adding a personal and meaningful touch to her outfit.
After the salute at Horse Guards Parade, Kate and William returned to Buckingham Palace accompanied by Charles and the Qatari guests.
The visit continued with lunch and a tour of the Royal Collection treasures of particular relevance to Qatar.
On Tuesday evening, the banquet will take place at Buckingham Palace. However, Kate will miss this part due to her recovery process.
For her part, Camilla will pose for photos during the dinner, take a short break and then return to join the celebration.
This week will mark one of the most active moments of the Princess of Wales in the public sphere.
Once the events of the state visit are over, her schedule will not stop. On Dec. 6, Kate will join William and their children, Prince George, 11; Princess Charlotte, 9; and Prince Louis, 6, for their traditional “Together at Christmas” carol service at Westminster Abbey.
Approximately 1,600 people are expected to attend the event, which will be the fourth consecutive year that Kate has led the emotional celebration.
Kate Middleton’s return to official duties could not have been more impactful. With grace and style, she continues to reaffirm her role in the British royal family as she takes on new challenges and celebrations with enthusiasm.
