After a complicated year in which she focused on her health following a cancer diagnosis, it seems that her return to the royal agenda has not been entirely well received.
Kate and Prince William were expected to attend the BAFTA Awards 2025 together, the gala that celebrates the best of British and world cinema.

Last year, Kate was unable to attend due to illness. This year, expectations were high; she was expected to make her triumphant return to the Royal Albert Hall, wearing one of her elegant gowns. Instead, she opted for a family vacation in the Caribbean.
Since the day she was diagnosed, her priority has always been her children: George, Charlotte, and Louis. So they took advantage of the school vacations to fly to the island of Mustique, a place they had visited before.
The family flew out on February 13. The press has not exactly been kind to this decision.
An article in the German media outlet ‘Bunte’ stresses that fans were excited about their return to the red carpet, only to be disappointed.
They criticize that the couple, by choosing an exclusive destination only accessible to those who own a villa or are guests, seems to be ignoring their audience at a time when they should be in the spotlight.
The same media warns that this trip could be detrimental to the image of Kate, who has always been appreciated in the UK, potentially ruining her image as the “perfect” royal.
Moreover, they insist that her decision to take a vacation now could cause irritation, as her presence was expected, especially because of William’s role as chairman of the BAFTA committee.
Although Kate and William have enjoyed an unblemished image within the royal family, their current tendency to shy away from public engagements and opt for vacations could be a reputational risk.
If they continue to avoid appearances and accumulate getaways, Kate’s perfect image could be in jeopardy.
