Since her cancer diagnosis in March, Kate Middleton has chosen to stay out of the spotlight, while her father-in-law, King Charles, has been seen in public and resumed his official duties despite ongoing treatment.
Insights have emerged regarding the reasons behind their different approaches.
Kate Middleton’s Cancer Battle
In a heartfelt video, the mother-of-three bravely shared her health battle, revealing that post-operative tests had detected cancer.
This disclosure came a month after the Palace announced King Charles’s diagnosis, stating he remains optimistic about his treatment and eagerly anticipates returning to full public duty.
Both Charles and Kate are undergoing cancer treatment, although the specific types of cancer they are facing remain undisclosed.
A source informed the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden about Kate’s absence from public life, noting: “King Charles wanted to be visible to the public during his cancer treatment, but this hasn’t been the case for his daughter-in-law.”
“As Sovereign, His Majesty’s situation differs significantly from that of the Princess of Wales. There’s no pressure for her to make public appearances while she’s recovering,” as per reports from the Mirror.
During a recent visit to southwest England, Prince William reassured fans about Kate’s health during his tour of St. Mary’s Community Hospital on the Isles of Scilly.
When asked about Kate, William mentioned that she is “doing well.”
In support of Mental Health Awareness Week, William and Kate collaborated on a meaningful post on their Kensington Royal platform.
They highlighted a film featuring Sam Stables from We Are Farming Minds and Farmer Will, discussing mental health in the farming community and the Duchy of Cornwall’s Mental Health Strategy.

Although Kate didn’t appear in the video, she played a significant role behind the scenes alongside William.
Meanwhile, King Charles, aged over 70, resumed his public duties at the end of last month.
Despite expectations of a lighter summer schedule, he completed five tasks within 48 hours, dispelling suggestions of a relaxed agenda.
