Kate Middleton has faced several health problems over the years, the most complex of which have been related to her pregnancies.
Despite looking radiant and energetic at her royal engagements, Kate has revealed the difficulties she had to overcome in private.
Kate Middleton’s health problems
One of Kate’s major health problems was hyperemesis gravidarum, a condition characterized by severe vomiting and nausea during pregnancy.
This condition forced her to be hospitalized when she was expecting her first child, Prince George, in 2012. Kate would suffer hyperemesis again with the pregnancies of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
In her own words, this condition was “horrible” and prevented her from eating properly and even enjoying her pregnancies as “I was really sick.”
Kate went so far as to say that she would rather be in labor than pregnant due to the severity of her condition. Fortunately, she managed to overcome these difficult times and give birth to three healthy children.
Another physical problem she has suffered is a five-centimeter scar along the temple on the left side of her head. That scar is related to a childhood operation.
Kate Middleton’s other health problems were minor, such as a minor finger injury.
The princess sported a bandage on her fingers last year, revealing that she had hurt herself jumping on the trampoline at home, but that it was nothing serious.
The 42-year-old Princess of Wales is currently recovering in a private clinic in London after undergoing successful abdominal surgery.
She is expected to remain hospitalized for two weeks before continuing her recovery at home and will have no official engagements for the next two to three months.
For his part, Prince William has set aside his schedule of engagements to focus on his wife and care for their three children.
