It seems that marmalade is a fairly common ingredient on the table of the British monarchy. Just as this sweet treat can bring them together, it could also spark rivalry.
When Meghan Markle launched her brand, the first product she released was none other than jam. Since then, there has been no shortage of comparisons to the jam King Charles produces.
Now, Kate Middleton joins this “sweet” battle for the title of best marmalade.
Kate Middleton’s Marmalade Recipe
Recently, Princess Kate returned to work with a visit to Pontypridd in South Wales, accompanied by Prince William, as reported here on RoyalFamily.news.
During her tour of the Meadow Street Community Garden and Woodland, Kate met a group of young gardeners who were harvesting plums to make jam.
In a friendly gesture, she promised them, “I’ll send you my recipe so you can try it,” as reported by *Hello!*
Additionally, Kate shared her newfound interest in wild food gathering, mentioning that her children — Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 — were particularly intrigued by a giant mushroom she had recently found.
“The children thought it was fascinating,” she said.
Arriving in Wales on Wednesday, Kate and William learned how to make traditional Welsh cakes at *The Welsh Cake Shop* before meeting with more local business owners.
This region has been hit hard by storms Bert and Darragh in November and December, and many families and businesses are still recovering.
Although Kate has not made her recipe public, nor has she indicated whether she will do so in the future, many couldn’t help but draw comparisons to Meghan’s signature product.
The Duchess of Sussex announced earlier this month that she would be changing the name of her brand from American Riviera Orchard to As Ever. However, she assured her followers that the jam would not disappear.
“Of course, there will be fruit preserves. I think we’re all clear at this point that jam is my jam,” she said in a video on Instagram. “But there are so many more products that I just love, and now it’s time to share them with you. So, I just can’t wait for you to see it.”
So, while jam may become a point of connection between these royal women, it also seems it could spark some friendly competition.
