This weekend news broke that there is apparently outrage in Kate Middleton’s hometown over her parents’ unpaid debts, what is known so far?
The town of Bucklebury is known for being Kate Middleton’s quaint hometown and the place where she spent her childhood years. However, Bucklebury has recently been in the news for a much less charming reason.
Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton are facing outrage from local residents and creditors over unpaid debts accumulated by the Middletons’ party supply company.
Kate Middleton’s Parents in Trouble in Bucklebury
The Middletons founded in 1987 and built it into a successful business that brought them wealth and fame. However, the company fell on hard times during the pandemic and was forced to file for bankruptcy earlier this year.
Finally, after several months of losses, the company changed owners, and Carole and Michael Middleton sold it to British businessman James Sinclair, but not before the company had accumulated a debt of 2.6 million pounds (more than three million dollars).
Unfortunately, many creditors have yet to receive payments owed to them.
As reported by The Sun newspaper, cash-strapped suppliers and vendors have decided to express their frustration in an unusual way: by plastering posters around Bucklebury denouncing the Middletons.
The guerrilla poster campaign has caused commotion in this normally quiet town.
Neighbors are said to be “appalled” that the Middletons are being attacked in their own community. James Middleton, Kate’s brother, has even been seen removing some of the posters himself.
However, creditors believe the Middletons should pay up, given their personal wealth.
The family owns an estate, racehorses, and other million-dollar assets. Kate’s fortune is considerable and her sister Pippa married a wealthy financier.
Critics argue that the Middletons have the means to pay Party Pieces’ debts themselves.
Princess Kate’s parents argue that the now-bankrupt company was a separate legal entity, exempting them from liability.
But this is of little consolation to suppliers, who are upset at being left empty-handed.
The poster campaign shows the tensions in Bucklebury between loyal neighbors and angry creditors. The quiet village is now the scene of a rather unseemly royal scandal.
Probably for Kate Middleton’s parents, the poster controversy represents a backlash they would never have imagined.
