A week after announcing the conclusion of her chemotherapy treatment, the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has returned to her duties in the monarchy.
Her last official engagement took place during the Wimbledon final last July, marking a significant pause in her schedule due to her health condition.
Since being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing abdominal surgery in January this year, Kate had drastically reduced her participation in royal-related activities. This context makes her return to work all the more significant.
Kate Middleton’s Return to work
On September 17, the princess attended a meeting of one of the initiatives she is most passionate about, focused on child welfare during the early years of life.
In an official statement, it was mentioned that the Princess of Wales, Co-Patron of the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales, held an Early Years meeting at Windsor Castle this afternoon, according to the register known as The Court Circular.
The choice of this organization for her first official activity of 2024 is particularly symbolic, as Kate has described this project as “her life’s work.”
The meeting with the team of the initiative, which aims to give children a better start in their first five years, highlights her commitment to this cause.
The meeting is the first to be recorded in the Court Circular since the start of the princess’s treatment, underscoring the importance of her return to public service after a difficult phase in her life.
In her video shared on March 9, Kate also expressed her desire to return to work and her relief at having completed treatment.
“I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” the Princess of Wales said in a statement on X.
“Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
She continued, “Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
