With just a few days to go until the premiere of the second and final part of The Crown, Netflix has released new images that reflect one of the most important stages of the monarchy, such as Charles’ marriage to Camilla or Kate Middleton’s arrival in Prince William’s life.
The latter has generated a lot of comments on social media about how William actually met Kate. It all happened thanks to a fashion show and a sheer dress.
Was Kate Middleton a model?
The answer is no. Although Kate caught Prince William’s attention while participating in a fashion show at the University of St Andrews during her second year in 2022, she has never pursued modeling as a profession.
Reportedly, her fashion statement in the daring look, which was originally intended as a skirt, caught Prince William’s eye.

It was rumored that the couple had gone from being friends to having romantic interests after the fashion show, and the rest is real history.
Kate Middleton’s see-through dress
The story behind this dress is quite interesting. The designer was Charlotte Todd, who made the piece as part of her university work.
The assignment was called ‘The Art of Seduction’ and revealed that she did not know who Kate Middleton was and chose her to wear the dress purely by chance.
The dress cost less than $50 and was later sold at an auction in 2011 for $125,000.
