King Charles III commemorated the second anniversary of the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, by attending a service at Crathie Kirk Church, located near the royal estate of Balmoral in Scotland.

The event took place this Sunday, September 8, and provided the monarch with a moment of prayer and reflection in memory of the late queen.

Now 75, Charles and his wife Camilla have been enjoying the summer in the Scottish Highlands, where Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022.

Crathie Kirk Church has been a sacred place for the royal family, and Queen Elizabeth II was a frequent attendee at religious ceremonies.

September 8 also marks the second anniversary of the ascension to the throne of Charles, who took over and has had a reign marked by personal challenges, including unspecified cancer diagnoses for both himself and his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, Kate.

Despite these obstacles, Charles has been slowly resuming his duties as sovereign, carrying out numerous visits and events.

His most recent royal engagement was this Saturday when the King and Camilla were spotted at the Braemar Gathering Highland Games, where, dressed in traditional costumes, they enjoyed a festive atmosphere and shared laughter, participating in this event that celebrates Scottish culture.
