Prince Harry arrived in London to attend an engagement related to the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, a competition he created for veterans of war conflicts.
Since days before his visit, several British media pointed out the possibility of a meeting between the Duke of Sussex and King Charles, especially considering that this would be the second time Harry travels to the United Kingdom so far this year.
The first was in February. When Charles announced he had cancer, Harry immediately took a flight, had a brief meeting with the monarch upon arrival and then returned to California.
Now he has returned to London, but the father-son reunion will not take place.
In a gesture that was interpreted as a snub, a spokesman for Prince Harry said the meeting with the king would not take place due to the monarch’s prior commitments.
“It will unfortunately not be possible due to His Majesty’s busy schedule,” Harry’s spokesman said.
Now it is known that this was not the only snub suffered by the son of Princess Diana.
What did King Charles do to Prince Harry?
Just hours after arriving in London, the 75-year-old king announced a new setback for Harry, revealing that Prince William will take over Harry’s former helicopter regiment next week.
Charles will attend a ceremony next Monday to confirm William, 41, as colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps, Harry’s former regiment, The Sun newspaper reported.
The event will take place in front of an Apache, the type of helicopter Harry flew while serving in Afghanistan.
The British newspaper’s sources claim that Harry made several attempts to arrange a reunion with his father before his trip to the UK. However, it was not possible.
Charles attended the first garden party at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, accompanied by Queen Camilla and other royals, including Princess Anne, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie.
While Harry, accompanied only by Princess Diana’s family, attended the service scheduled to celebrate the anniversary of the Invictus Games.
The appearance of Princess Diana’s three siblings was a pleasant surprise for the prince.
Before the great uproar and controversy over their relationship with the Windsors, Charles, Sarah and Jane wanted to show their full support for their nephew.
Very effusive, the siblings arrived at the cathedral smiling and relaxed.
Other very important people to Harry who have come forward to support him are David Sherboune, his lawyer during his trial against the British tabloids, Mark Dyer, former squire to Charles III and Archie’s godfather, and Ed Lane Fox, the prince’s former private secretary.
