King Charles and the Rugby Players
During this meeting, held on September 11 at Buckingham Palace, King Charles III showed an endearing gesture that caught everyone’s attention.
The players of the women’s rugby team, known as the Black Ferns, decided to set aside the traditional reserve that usually exists when dealing with royalty and asked the king for a hug.
“Yeah, we all wanted a hug. But only if it’s okay with you,” said player Ayesha Leti-I’iga, prompting laughter from those present.
The monarch, with a smile, accepted the request: “A hug? Why not!” said the king.
The players did not hesitate to come forward to participate in a warm group hug. Then, at the end of the hug, the rest of the team members approached to enjoy their own personal hug with the king.

The encounter not only highlights the closeness of the monarch with the public but also underscores the importance of the interaction between royalty and athletes, creating a bond that transcends formalities.
