Recent reports suggest that King Charles III has not been responding to phone calls and letters from his estranged son, Prince Harry.
According to royal author Robert Hardman, the 75-year-old monarch has been advised to avoid engaging with the Duke of Sussex during this challenging time, primarily to help manage his stress levels amid his ongoing health issues, including a cancer diagnosis.
King Charles avoids Harry’s calls
Hardman shared insights about the situation, emphasizing that many wonder why the king doesn’t meet with Harry during his visits to London.
He explained, “There’s a sense that we’ve just got to keep the king’s stress levels down. We don’t want him to have extra things to worry about.”
The royal author added that the complexities of Harry’s public statements—seen in his interviews, TV series, and memoir—make it a particularly difficult moment for reconciliation.
The dynamic between father and son remains strained. This year, Charles has only met with Harry once, which occurred in February after the prince learned about his father’s health condition.
During Harry’s return to London in May, he expressed his disappointment over not being able to meet with his father, though he remains hopeful for a future reunion.
Recently, Camilla, the Queen Consort, has reportedly urged Charles to refrain from meeting Harry during his recent trip to the UK. Her advice stems from a desire to prevent unnecessary stress for her husband during his battle with cancer.
A close friend of Camilla revealed, “She has been the principal voice urging Charles to slow down and take things easy. The last thing she wants is for him to be stressed out over a meeting with Harry.”
While the royal family navigates these challenges, the possibility of mending their relationship hangs in the balance.
