In a show of togetherness, King Charles gathered with members of the Royal Family at a garden party at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, May 8.
This coincided with Prince Harry’s Invictus Games service, held just a short distance away.
King Charles at Buckingham Palace Garden Party
Over 8,000 guests attended the party, with the King mingling among them alongside Queen Camilla and other royals, making it a grand affair.
Notably absent was Prince William, who was occupied with an investiture ceremony earlier.
King Charles, dressed in a grey suit and light blue waistcoat, entered the garden with Queen Camilla, greeting the crowds with smiles.
He removed his hat during the national anthem, prompting cheers from the crowd.
Charles’ appearance at the garden party was a gesture of gratitude towards those who serve communities and charities.
His public duties resumed recently after his cancer diagnosis earlier this year, where he openly discussed his health and reassured everyone of his well-being.
His upcoming schedule will be adjusted considering his recovery, with outdoor events being considered to minimize risks.
Palace sources assure that his programme will be carefully managed in consultation with medical experts, ensuring his continued recovery.
Prince Harry at St. Paul’s Cathedral
Meanwhile, Prince Harry attended the Invictus Games service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Despite hopes of a reunion between Charles and Harry, a spokesperson clarified that it wouldn’t be possible due to the King’s schedule.
The relationship between Charles and Harry has been strained since Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties.
However, Harry hinted at a possible thaw due to Charles’ illness during an interview.
Although no member of the Windsor family attended the mass, Harry was surrounded by his maternal family.
Charles Spencer, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes attended the cathedral and he embraced them on sight.
