The relationship between Prince Harry and the British Royal Family is going through a period of marked tension, particularly in his relationship with his father, King Charles III.
Reports in the UK press have brought to light a strong request from the monarch to his son, who seems to be progressively distancing himself from the the core royal family.
This estrangement was evidenced when, during Harry’s visit to England last May, there was no meeting with the King.
In addition, the Duke of Sussex was also not included in the guest list for the next Trooping the Colour event, and declined to attend the wedding of his close friend, the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor.
Although the reasons for his refusal have not been officially confirmed, speculation is circulating that he wished to avoid an encounter with Prince William, also present at the wedding.
What was King Charles’ demand to Prince Harry?
Amid controversies sparked by statements made by the youngest of his children, which have targeted several members of the royals, Charles III has expressed an urgent and final call.
Tom Quinn, an royal commentator, shared with The Mirror that the monarch has directly asked Harry to refrain from making additional public comments about the family or his brother that could generate discord.
Quinn warns that it is common knowledge that disregarding a royal request carries consequences.
Delving deeper into the matter, the expert on the British royal household, reflects on the motivations behind the current situation:
Over the years, Harry has expressed his dissatisfaction with his family’s treatment of him, primarily seeking an apology and reconciliation between his father and brother.
However, Quinn points out that the strategy employed by Harry to achieve this end may not be the most appropriate.
He stresses that public grievances tend to aggravate the situation and, in Harry’s case, this translates into a growing estrangement from the monarchy of which he was once a part.
