King Charles III has made a notable change to his daily routine, especially while recovering from cancer.

According to a royal insider, the monarch, known for skipping lunch due to his busy schedule, now includes a small but powerful snack: half an avocado.

The shift, though made “with some reluctance,” is seen as a necessary adjustment to help the 75-year-old maintain his strength amid ongoing treatment.

“It’s important, particularly if you have an illness,” the source shared with The Mail on Sunday. The addition of the creamy fruit is a wise choice, given its reputation as a superfood packed with essential nutrients.

Avocados are loaded with magnesium, potassium, and omega-3 fatty acids—elements known to support heart health, lower the risk of diabetes, and even show potential in fighting cancer.

Research backs up this claim. Experts have noted that extracts from avocado pulp contain antioxidants, such as lutein and vitamin E, that have shown the ability to stop the growth of certain cancer cells, including those related to prostate and oral cancers.

In addition to incorporating superfoods into his diet, King Charles has long advocated for a more sustainable approach to eating.

In 2021, during an interview on BBC’s Big Interviews, he discussed how he avoids meat and fish two days a week and refrains from dairy products once a week. He believes that small changes like these can significantly reduce one’s environmental footprint.

King Charles has advocated less industrialized farming methods to alleviate the environmental pressures associated with modern food production.

King Charles’ health battle has been kept largely private, but it has been reported that he has undergone chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery for an undisclosed type of cancer.

Despite the intensity of his treatments, Buckingham Palace remains optimistic about his recovery, with the king gradually returning to his royal duties.
