Know the time King Charles of England suffered a nasty accident while cycling at Cambridge University.
For King Charles III, Cambridge University brings back fond memories as he spent part of his youth there. But what many do not know is that the new King of Great Britain was hit by a bus while riding his bicycle. The most curious thing is that no one found out what happened until decades later.
King Charles hit by a bus
He first spoke about the incident in November 2016 during a visit to the British house of learning to commemorate the bicentenary of the University of Cambridge’s Fitzwilliam Museum. None of those present imagined that the then Prince of Wales would end up revealing his accident.
“For me it is always an experience of immense pleasure to return to Cambridge. I have always felt very fortunate to have studied at this university,” an animated Prince told attendees.
“All I can say is that time passes very quickly…but I enjoyed it immensely,” he continued, with no one imagining the revelation that would follow… How I survived being hit by a bus when I was cycling just outside here, I don’t know. But it was a very special experience, as many of you know,” he said that time, not realizing that his staff was surprised to hear about it for the first time.
Used to joking and chatting pleasantly, Charles had no problem sharing this anecdote from his college years with those present at the event, and he has let himself be carried away by nostalgia.
Although he did not give many details about the accident with the bus, it can be said that he recovered satisfactorily.
