The media firestorm unleashed by the accusations of racism leveled in Omid Scobie’s book “Endgame” has stoked scrutiny of the British royal family.
In particular, attention has intensified on King Charles III and Kate Middleton, who were mentioned in the Dutch version of the controversial book as having expressed concern about Prince Archie’s pre-birth skin tone.
While the names were not officially confirmed and it was claimed that they were included by mistake in the Dutch edition, copies were quickly withdrawn from bookstores.
In the wake of these revelations, King Charles and Kate Middleton have been caught up in a media frenzy. While the British press mostly backs the royals, at the same time the author Omid Scobie is condemned.
King Charles will not attend Kate Middleton’s carol service
This scandal becomes the backdrop for the “Together at Christmas” carol service organized by Kate Middleton at London’s Westminster Abbey next Friday.
Initially, a press release announced that “Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales, and other Members of the Royal Family will attend the Together At Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey on Friday 8th December,” sending a message of family unity to observers.
However, hours later Buckingham Palace announced that the King is scheduled to attend an event the same day at his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire, more than 100 miles away, where he will attend a “Celebration of Craft” for his foundation.
