What did Camilla say about King Charles' medical condition?

When Buckingham Palace announced last Wednesday, Jan. 17, that King Charles would undergo a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate, royal watchers immediately had questions about the 96-year-old monarch’s health.

However, Queen Camilla moved quickly to reassure the British public that the king was in good spirits.

Speaking during a solo visit to the Aberdeen Art Gallery on Thursday, January 18th, Queen Camilla told well-wishers that King Charles was “fine, thank you very much” and that he was “looking forward to getting back to work.”

Her comments came just hours after the palace released a statement saying that Charles had recently sought treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia, a common condition affecting many men over 50.

The palace explained that His Majesty would be admitted to the hospital next week for a “corrective procedure” to treat the enlarged prostate and that he would postpone some public engagements for a “short period of recuperation.”

Charles chose to disclose his diagnosis as a way to encourage other men experiencing urinary symptoms to get medical attention, in keeping with public health advice about prostate issues.

While the king focuses on rest and recovery ahead of the procedure, Queen Camilla has resumed her normal schedule of royal duties.

Camilla has been praised for reassuring the public amid speculation about Charles III’s medical condition.
