King Charles extended an olive branch to his younger brother, Prince Andrew.
The 74-year-old monarch invited Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson to spend Christmas with him, Prince William, Kate Middleton and the other royals at Sandringham.
The official guest list has not yet been revealed by the palace.
Phil Dampier, a royal expert, told the Daily Mail, “This looks like an olive branch from King Charles to a brother who would otherwise have been excluded. He remains a member of the family and, in inviting his ex-wife Fergie, it seems Charles has been indulgent and gracious.’
Kate and Andrew’s daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, will also attend the Christmas dinner with their parents.
The invitation to spend Christmas at Sandringham does not mean that the “indulgent and gracious” king will allow Andrew to return to his royal duties.
