With the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the British royal family faces a number of challenges, one of the most notable of which is the problem Prince Andrew represents for the new king, Charles III.
Since Andrew was removed from his duties due to the Epstein scandal, his presence has become a constant source of discomfort for the monarchy.
Far from keeping a low profile, Andres continues to defy the royal family’s directives, showing his discontent with the situation.
During his mother’s reign, Prince Andrew complied with the Crown’s orders, but the situation has changed with his brother on the throne.
He has taken refuge in his residence, Royal Lodge, a large mansion where he lives with his daughters and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.
King Charles has been trying to get Andrew to move to Frogmore Cottage, a smaller, nearby residence, the same one left vacant after Harry and Meghan’s departure for the United States. However, Andrew has resisted these changes.
King Charles’ Request to William and Kate
According to several British media, King Charles asked his eldest son, Prince William, and his wife Kate to move from Adelaide Cottage to Royal Lodge.
Although the latter is a larger property, ideal for their growing family and staff, the couple seems to be content in their current home, which has only four bedrooms.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ aides still occupy the rooms at Kensington Palace left vacant after the move.
The real motive behind this move is King Charles’ desire for his brother Andrew to leave Royal Lodge, thus allowing the crown prince to take up residence there. However, this strategy has not proved easy to implement.
Andrew has made clear his desire for the residence to pass to his daughters after his death, according to ‘GB News’.
The Prince and Princess of Wales do not seem happy about this potential move either. However, the king’s intentions are hard to ignore.
King Charles III’s ultimatum to Prince Andrew
‘The Times’ reported that King Charles III has given his brother Andrew an ultimatum.
If Prince Andrew does not leave Royal Lodge, the King may be forced to re-evaluate the support he provides him. The Duke of Yor would have to pay with his money: security, accommodation and lifestyle. This ultimatum puts Andres in a critical situation.
Andres has shown a firm refusal to leave his residence, he claims that he wants to fulfill the contract offered to him, which would allow him to live there for 75 years.
Andrew’s link to the Epstein affair led to his removal from the Crown and his retirement from representative functions. Although he has appeared at some family and public events.
Andrew’s refusal to leave his residence could definitively break his relationship with King Charles.
