In a context marked by controversial situations, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia have decided to focus on pleasant family moments, enjoying a private dinner in Galicia.
This meeting was organized as part of the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the King’s Navy flag swearing-in, a significant event for the Spanish military institution.
As reported by the Royal Household, this visit also allowed the King and Queen to take the opportunity to see their daughter, Princess Leonor, who is currently at the Naval School of Marin, where she is continuing her military training.
Former King Juan Carlos was also present at this meeting, a fact that highlights the importance of the family reunion, especially considering the efforts made by the Royal House to distance the emeritus king from his granddaughter, the crown princess, due to the recent scandals that have affected his reputation.
In fact, Juan Carlos I is currently facing a new scandal due to the dissemination of compromising photographs in relation to Barbara Rey, an actress with whom he has been romantically linked for three decades.
King Felipe and Letizia’s private dinner
As for the dinner, Queen Letizia and King Felipe could be seen walking the streets before attending the event.
The Queen wore an elegant outfit, characterized by straight-leg pants, a black knit sweater, a scarf around her neck, and flat shoes.
To protect herself from the low autumn temperatures, she opted for a beige trench coat. The King, meanwhile, chose a more casual look, combining blue jeans with a brown jacket and matching shoes, denoting his approachable style.
There is speculation that the King and Queen may travel to Greece to attend the wedding of Theodora of Greece and Matthew Kumar, to which they are invited.
Theodora is King Felipe’s cousin, which adds an important family component to the event.
Meanwhile, Queen Emerita Sofía, Felipe’s mother and the bride’s aunt, is already in Greece in the company of her sister, Princess Irene, as well as her daughters, Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina, and two of her grandchildren, Irene and Miguel Urdangarin.
The wedding will be held on Saturday, September 28, marking a moment of joy within the royal family.
