Queen Letizia and King Felipe are enjoying their trip to Italy, the last official trip of the year!
The majestic Quirinal Palace, which was the setting for their welcoming ceremony, was transformed in the evening hours for a special occasion.
And of course, no state visit is complete without a gala dinner, which in this case is being hosted by the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella.
The Queen of Spain once again dazzled with her elegance, opting for a beautiful black dress by the Italian brand Max Mara.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia at the Gala Dinner in Italy
Felipe and Letizia arrived at the Quirinal Palace for the banquet that closes the most formal day of their stay in Italy.
During this event, both the king and the Italian president gave speeches.
One detail that drew attention is that although the queen did not wear a tiara, she displayed jewelry of great historical significance: diamond bracelets that belonged to the Cartier crown, a wedding gift from King Alfonso XIII to Queen Victoria Eugenia.
Queen Victoria Eugenia left in her will that these jewels were to be inherited from queen to queen, so the tradition is kept alive.
Letizia debuted these bracelets in 2017 and has since worn them on several occasions.
King Felipe, sporting an elegant black tuxedo, gave a speech in which he highlighted the strength of relations between Spain and Italy and reaffirmed his commitment to the joint future of both countries.
“Before this Parliament, I reiterate my deep conviction that Italy and Spain will continue to walk together along the not always easy paths of the 21st century,” the king said.
Felipe then met with the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and the day culminated with the gala dinner in honor of the King and Queen, where Felipe closed his speech by emphasizing that “we are, in a word, Europe; that same Europe that has its roots in millenary Rome.” A beautiful closing for a day full of symbolism and elegance.
