King Felipe and Queen Letizia experienced an awkward moment during dinner at the Summit of Heads of State and Government in Granada, Spain.
Welcoming half a hundred European leaders to the Alhambra before dinner, one of the highlights was Felipe and Letizia’s greeting of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski on his first visit to Spain.
For this important event, Queen Letizia looked dazzling in a Carolina Herrera dress, which she debuted in 2018.
The event left unforgettable moments and also some embarrassing ones, like the one experienced by the King and Queen.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia in Granada
During King Felipe’s toast to the political leaders, he praised Granada as a magnificent city that he hoped had inspired the meeting.
He mentioned that it was a city proud of its history and a unique example of cultural fusion in Europe, highlighting the Alhambra as its most visible feature.
However, when King Felipe was looking for his glass for the toast, he confused Queen Letizia, who did not have a glass to accompany him.
The Head of Protocol of the Royal Household also seemed surprised by the oversight and withdrew to find a glass for the Queen.
In a nice gesture, amidst laughter from both, the King decided to share his glass with his wife.
This moment went viral on social networks, and Letizia’s expression of disbelief and the gesture of her hand remained as an amusing memory for posterity.
