After almost 19 years married and two daughters, King Felipe, 55, and Queen Letizia, 50, have built a solid relationship. Although they are not giving great demonstrations of affection publicly, on some occasions they have been captured sharing smiles and gestures of complicity.
This past Monday, Felipe, and Letizia kicked off their week of institutional events by presiding over the presentation of the National Innovation and Design Awards. Throughout the event, the King and Queen were very friendly and smiling, but this was not the only time they have been caught in that kind of behavior.
Love between King Felipe and Queen Letizia
In September 2021, the Spanish King and Queen starred in a tender moment on a trip to Lisbon, Portugal. While they were at an event, the King looked affectionately at his wife, with whom he shared confidence while still wearing his mask. She returned his gaze with a smile that was perfectly appreciated by her gesture.
The image attracted attention because it is not common for the parents of the Princess of Asturias, Leonor de Borbón, 17, and the Infanta Sofía, 15, to show affection for each other in public.
Coronation of King Felipe
The coronation of King Felipe VI on June 19, 2014, was a historic day. The only male son of King Juan Carlos was proclaimed king of all Spaniards in a solemn ceremony held in the Congress of Deputies. Felipe and Letizia starred in a more than romantic moment, when they thought no one saw them, the new queen caressed her husband’s face.
The great applause
In December 2018, 40 years of the Spanish Constitution were celebrated. Felipe VI delivered his speech and as he said his last sentence, a standing ovation began, led by Queen Letizia.
The monarch tried to end his applause by raising his hand to say goodbye to those present in the hemicycle but failed. The Queen continued to lead the applause as a sign of pride, affection, and admiration.
Valentine’s Day gesture
On February 14, 2020, on Valentine’s Day, Felipe and Letizia traveled to Huelva and visited the Doñana National Park. The kings and queens lavished love, affection, and complicity throughout the visit, as was captured in the images of that official visit.
Queen Letizia proud
In June 2021, Felipe received the Medal of Honor of Andalusia in the Palace of San Telmo in Seville. He expressed that this recognition was like an embrace. The Queen made a loving gesture.
Romantic bus ride
In November 2021, King Felipe and Doña Letizia presided over the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the creation of the Municipal Transport Company of Madrid by bus through the streets of the capital.
The fun walk also left signs of complicity between Felipe and Letizia and is that apparently the queen sat on the knees of her husband, an unusual gesture in the public events of the couple.
