In a solemn ceremony full of tradition and commitment, the Spanish Royal Family gathered at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza to commemorate a historic milestone: the 40th anniversary of the swearing-in of the graduating class of King Felipe VI.

This May 4, King Felipe VI, dressed in the uniform of the Army, has taken a leading role in the celebrations.

Not only did he preside over the ceremony with Queen Letizia, but he also joined his classmates in a gesture that reflected his dual role as monarch and soldier.

His kiss to the Spanish flag was the first of the group, symbolizing the renewal of his oath of allegiance to the nation.

Queen Letizia, dressed in a light blue suit, accompanied the monarch to witness this important act, which not only recalls the past, but also projects the continuity of tradition into the future.

This is the third time that King Felipe has sworn in the flag, a rite that began in his youth in 1985 and continued in 2010.

The tradition is expected to continue, with the next ceremony scheduled for a decade from now.

The King’s bond with his comrades-in-arms has strengthened over time, and this event was an opportunity to renew those ties, share conversations and capture moments for posterity.

Princess Leonor follows in the footsteps of tradition

The day was given special significance by the presence of Princess Leonor, who witnessed the swearing in of the flag from a unique perspective, both as the daughter of the monarch and as a cadet at the same academy.

Their participation in the parade, in full dress uniform, was a highlight that symbolized the generational continuity of the Royal Family in the service of Spain.

Through these acts, the Royal Family not only honors its history and traditions, but also reaffirms its commitment to the future of Spain.
