King Felipe VI has returned to enjoy his passion for skiing with a trip to Baqueira Beret.
The monarch, a great fan of this sport, took advantage of the weekend to slide down the slopes of the popular resort in the Catalan Pyrenees.
His trip took place without the company of Queen Letizia, who does not share his enthusiasm for snow.
King Felipe’s style in Baqueira Beret
Felipe VI, as on other occasions, chose a suitable outfit for the day in the mountains.
On this occasion, he opted for a jacket from Descente, a Japanese brand to which he has been loyal for years.
The garment, in shades of gray and black with a red hood, attracted attention among ski lovers, especially because it is currently discounted from 730 to 584 dollars, making it an object of desire for many fans of the winter sport.
The getaway was a whirlwind one. Just hours before being seen on the slopes, the monarch was in Valencia, where he presided over the presentation of the King Jaume I Awards.
The next day, without wasting any time, he landed in Madrid, only to head for Baqueira. Once there, he took advantage of the good weather and the more than 130 kilometers of skiable slopes offered by the resort.
Despite his discretion, his presence did not go unnoticed. His height and his characteristic beard made many skiers recognize him immediately.
However, the atmosphere was calm, with no crowds or requests for photographs, as this was a private trip.
While the king enjoyed the snow, Queen Letizia remained in Madrid.
Queen Letizia doesn’t like skiing
No surprise, since she has never shown interest in skiing, unlike other members of the royal family.
In the past she tried to practice it, but did not become a fan.
Those who continue to enjoy this sport are the Infantas Elena and Cristina, although not as often as in the past. For his part, King Juan Carlos has left the slopes due to age.
For decades, Baqueira was the winter destination par excellence of the royal family.
