King Felipe VI went to the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid to visit his mother, Queen Sofia.

The emeritus queen is in the hospital due to a urinary tract infection.

King Felipe arrived at the hospital in the hope of receiving good news about his mother’s health.

The monarch arrived at the hospital driving his car and after parking it next to the entrance of the building, he entered the lobby to go to the room where his mother is under observation.

After about half an hour at the medical center, the Monarch left the hospital and stopped briefly in front of the assembled media.

With a smile on his face, King Felipe VI reassured those present by informing them that his mother is “very well, in good spirits and eager to return as soon as possible”.

According to the statements of the Spanish Head of State, Queen Sofia is evolving “very quickly and favorably” from the infection that led her to be admitted the night before.

The Royal Household did not provide further details on how long she could remain hospitalized, but the King’s optimistic gesture suggests that the Queen’s health is improving satisfactorily.

Urinary tract infection usually requires antibiotic treatment as it is generally caused by bacteria entering the urinary tract.

This hospitalization of Sofia of Greece comes just a few days after she was seen accompanying King Emeritus Juan Carlos I at the funeral of his nephew, Fernando Gomez-Acebo, and the wedding of the mayor of Madrid.

In both events, Queen Sofia looked healthy and active.

Although King Emeritus Juan Carlos I, who left Madrid on Monday for Geneva, is not expected to visit, the Spanish royal family has rallied around Queen Sofia during this delicate moment.

According to the Royal House’s communiqué and King Felipe’s statements, the 85-year-old Queen Emeritus Sofia’s health condition is not worrying.
