Felipe VI of Spain By Lillian Torres

This is the Message King Felipe Sent to President Donald Trump After He Assumed the Presidency of the United States

    21 January, 2025
King Felipe's Message to Donald Trump
Donald Trump took office as president of the United States.

January 20, 2025, will be a date that goes down in the annals of American politics, as Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States.

Much has changed since his last term, and he certainly hasn’t left anyone indifferent. With the ceremony packed with prominent figures such as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, it’s no surprise that the world was watching every detail of this event.

And, as expected, Spain also sent its greetings, this time from King Felipe VI.

Although the Spanish monarch did not attend the ceremony, he decided not to miss the opportunity to congratulate the new president through a telegram, reflecting the importance that Spain attaches to diplomatic relations with the other side of the Atlantic.

In his message, Felipe VI expressed, “I would like to express my congratulations on your inauguration as president of the United States of America.”

With these words, the king not only sets a friendly tone but also makes clear his desire for relations between Spain and the United States to be further strengthened during Trump’s term in office.

It is interesting to note how the king emphasized the friendship and collaboration between the two nations. Spain and the United States have had a rich and complex history, so remembering that they are “loyal partners and allies” is a comforting way to reaffirm those ties, especially in times of political uncertainty.

King Felipe's message to Donald Trump
King Felipe rejected the attack against Donald Trump.

This statement is key, considering some of the controversies already surrounding Trump in his new role; it seems Felipe VI is looking for a positive and constructive approach.

And it was not just King Felipe who decided to send his best wishes.

Other European monarchs, such as King Charles, Frederick of Denmark, and Carl Gustaf of Sweden, also joined the congratulatory feast.

King Felipe shows his solidarity with Donald Trump.

Frederick of Denmark, known for his protocol ceremonies, gave a nod to formality with his usual style.

Meanwhile, Carl Gustaf, in keeping with Swedish tradition, got straight to the point by offering his “sincere congratulations and best wishes” for the welfare of the American people.

Clearly, regardless of political differences, world leaders are willing to engage in dialogue.

So, as Trump begins his new chapter in the White House, with his controversial statements and decisions lurking, a message from the King of Spain can be seen as a small ray of hope.
