King Juan Carlos I arrived in Spain on Thursday, May 19, after almost two years out of the country. The emeritus arrived in a private flight to Vigo and moved with his friend Pedro Campos to the Galician town of Sanxenxo, where on Friday he arrived at the Yacht Club to attend the regattas.
Upon his arrival, he was greeted by dozens of people who shouted “Viva el Rey” (Long live the King) and gave him a warm welcome. However, despite the show of affection, the king showed some health problems.

During his visit to the town, King Felipe‘s father, 84 years old, had some mobility problems. The emeritus was supported at all times by his cane and held on to the arm of an assistant, which was the only way he could maintain his balance.
It was known that Juan Carlos had intentions of setting sail again aboard Bribón, the boat of which he is the skipper, but the idea was finally discarded. The emeritus was content to follow the regatta from a boat named Cristina.
In spite of everything, the king enjoyed the day to the fullest accompanied by his daughter the Infanta Elena, who has not been separated from him since he got off the plane. The Duchess of Lugo has become his maximum family support.
