King Juan Carlos returned to Spain a few weeks after his trip from Abu Dhabi to celebrate Princess Leonor’s birthday.
According to Spanish media reports, the retired monarch arrived in a private plane to the town of Sanxenxo, where he has spent his recent visits related to the sport of sailing.
What will Juan Carlos do in Spain?
Upon his arrival in Spain, Juan Carlos was welcomed by his friend Pedro Campos, president of the Real Club Nautico de Sanxenxo and his host on each of his visits to the country.
The first photos show the monarch in a car, and through the car window he dedicated a greeting to the journalists waiting for him at the entrance of his friend’s house.
The King Emeritus is expected to attend the Spanish Sailing Cup, which will be held this weekend.
This would not be the first time that Juan Carlos has enjoyed regattas, since last September he had the opportunity to be reunited with his daughter, the Infanta Elena, during a sailing competition.
The return of King Juan Carlos to Spain has generated interest and media attention.
Although no specific details have been revealed about his plans in the country, his presence in Sanxenxo suggests that he will continue to participate in events related to sailing, one of his passions.
