Lady Louise Windsor, niece of King Charles III of the United Kingdom, has shown a notable interest in pursuing a military career, similar to the trajectory of Princess Leonor of Spain.
The daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, she is currently studying at the University of St Andrews, one of the country’s most prestigious academic institutions, known for having hosted the likes of Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton.
Lady Louise’s military career?
According to reports from GB News, Lady Louise is already a member of the Officer Training Corps at the University of St Andrews, evidence of her commitment to military service and her desire to serve her country and King Charles III.
A source quoted by The Sun stated, “She talks about being very keen on a career in the military, serving the King and country. She is all about the Army Cadets and has fallen in love with it.”
Lady Louise’s inclination towards a career in military service is no coincidence, as she comes from a family with a significant military legacy. King Charles III served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Royal Navy.
Prince William, served as an officer in the Blues and Royals and later as a search and rescue pilot in the RAF.
Prince Harry, spent ten years in the British Army, participating in two deployments to Afghanistan and achieving the rank of captain as an Apache helicopter pilot.
Other members of the royal family have also had military careers. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, served in the Royal Navy during World War II, as did Prince Andrew, who had a 22-year career in the same institution and served as a helicopter pilot during the Falklands War.
Although Princess Anne has not served actively, she has received numerous military titles and honors, and Queen Elizabeth II became the first woman in the royal family to serve actively in the armed forces, serving as a driver and mechanic during World War II.
Lady Louise’s possible decision to pursue a military career reflects her desire to contribute to her country and highlights a family tradition of service and commitment to the armed forces.
