The British royal family has undergone significant changes in recent years, moving towards a slimmed-down monarchy focused on fewer core members.
But with senior royals like King Charles and Prince William needing to reduce engagements for health reasons, the remaining working royals have been left with a heavy workload.
That has led to speculation about whether other members of the family could step up to share some duties.
One name often suggested is Lady Louise Windsor, the 20-year-old daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Dukes of Edinburgh.
As a popular member of the family with close ties to the late Queen Elizabeth II, many see Louise as an ideal option.
Could Lady Louise Windsor help share the royal workload?
Despite Louise’s suitability, leading royal expert Jennie Bond believes it is unlikely she will become a full-time working royal in the near future.
Bond cites several key reasons, including doubtful interest from Louise herself as well as an effort by King Charles and Prince William to keep the monarchy accountable to taxpayers.
More working royals means more expense, running counter to plans for a streamlined Firm.
Additionally, at just 20 years old, Louise is currently enjoying university life and the freedom that comes with not having royal responsibilities.
“I’m doubtful that lady Louise would ever become a full-time working royal, partly because I’m not sure she would want to,” Jennie Bond told OK!
Bond points to her cousin Zara Tindall’s lifestyle as a model Louise herself may follow – a member of the family without having an official role.
That means Louise helping shoulder the burden is improbable, no matter how many fans back the idea.
