Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia are preparing to take on a prominent role in one of their most significant official engagements to date.

According to reports from the Spanish press, the young royals will accompany King Felipe and Queen Letizia during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, an event that will run from July 26 to August 11.

The presence of the royal family at this event will not be limited to the king and queen and their daughters; Queen Emerita Sofia, at 85 years old, will also be present in the French capital.

Their attendance will not only be confined to the inauguration but will extend over several days to enjoy the competitions and support the Spanish Olympic team.

This gesture reinforces the royal family’s tradition of supporting major sporting and cultural events.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia will make history by attending the Olympic Games for the first time.

This participation marks an important milestone, as neither King Felipe nor Queen Letizia have attended the games since the London 2012 edition.

The attendance of the future queen of Spain and her sister underscores their enthusiasm for sports.

This interest was evident when they both attended the celebration of Spain’s victory in the Euro Cup, held in Germany.

The presence of Leonor and Sofia at sporting events not only reflects their personal passion but also represents the royal family’s commitment to sports.

In 2022, the sisters attended their first official event without their parents, a  women’s soccer match between Spain and Denmark in England.

Additionally, in August 2023, Infanta Sofia and Queen Letizia traveled to Australia to support the Spanish women’s national soccer team,, which was crowned world champion.

These acts not only strengthen the image of the royal family but also highlight the importance of women’s sports and support for national athletes.
