In an unexpected gesture, Princess Leonor de Borbón, heir to the Spanish throne, surprised the attendees of the Princess of Girona CongrestFest with a message on a giant screen during the inaugural event held in Salamanca.
Although her mother, Queen Letizia presided over the event, replacing the Princess, her virtual presence captivated everyone present and reaffirmed her growing prominence in institutional engagements.

The Princess’s speech was accompanied by images of Leonor and Sofia at the meeting-workshop on innovation, teamwork and creativity with Spanish chef Ferran Adrià, which took place on July 4, 2023 in Girona.
With commendable temperance and eloquence, Leonor spoke in Spanish and Catalan about the importance of training and contributing to society.
“It is an important moment in my life and I feel very eager and convinced to continue learning and giving my best to strengthen the values with which I have grown up,” the heiress began.
She highlighted the principles and values of the Foundation with which she feels identified “talent, effort, commitment and solidarity.”
Leonor stressed the importance of effort to achieve excellence and encouraged young people to continue preparing themselves with commitment and solidarity.
“My generation trusts that the effort of committed work can contribute to a more hopeful future,” she concluded, provoking a standing ovation in the auditorium.
The princess’s speech, though brief, was deeply personal and revealed her alignment with the values of the Princess of Girona Foundation, of which she has been honorary president since childhood.
