Princess Leonor has ended her vacations this January 4, and will return to Wales to complete her academic preparation in the second year of the UWC Atlantic College in the United Kingdom.
The Spanish heiress, 17, spent 25 days enjoying a well-deserved break in which she did not leave aside her institutional role and, for the first time, held an event in December and starred with her sister, the Intanta Sofia, in the photo of the Christmas greeting card for the royal family.
What did Princess Leornor do in Spain?
Leonor made her only public appearance visiting the headquarters of the Spanish Red Cross, where she met with young volunteers and participants in the organization’s programs.
The first-born of King Felipe and Queen Letizia took the opportunity to recharge her family’s batteries by spending a lot of time with her parents and sister, although she also left room for outings with friends, as is often the case with young people her age.
It was learned that the Princess of Asturias enjoyed an evening where Asturian food, originally from the land of her mother, was the main protagonist.
For Christmas Eve, Leonor and the rest of her family, including her maternal grandmother Paloma Rocasonalo and her aunt Telma Ortiz shared Christmas Eve at the Zarzuela. However, the New Year’s festivities were a bit different as once the bells rang King Felipe boarded a flight to Brazil to attend the inauguration of President Luiz Lula da Silva.
Despite the good time she must have had, the princess will surely feel sad to miss again one of the great traditions, such as sharing the “roscón de reyes” at grandfather Jesús Ortiz’s house, as it happened last year.
Leonor will finish her studies in May and return to Spain to take a more active role in her preparation to become queen. Undoubtedly, Princess will face big changes in 2023.
