The day of Princess Leonor’s oath of allegiance to the flag was an occasion full of emotions.
The daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia took another step in her preparation to become the future Queen of Spain last Saturday, October 7, 2023.
The images of that day were engraved in the memory of many and reflect the maturity and determination of the young woman, who will turn 18 on October 31.
After her father’s words and the Queen’s emotional images, it was Leonor herself who spoke about what this day meant to her.
The first thing the king reminded her was that from now on she has an important job to do and that she must continue to be just as responsible. Everyone knows that she will fulfill this task, as she is a perfect example.
What did Leonor say about the pledge of allegiance?
After her pledge of allegiance, Princess Leonor signed the Book of Honor and wrote a special text.
They were her first words after her father’s speech.
“Today, October 7, I have sworn before the flag of Spain at the General Military Academy, and it is a day that I will always remember for its significance and that will accompany me for the rest of my life. I am very grateful to my teachers and classmates, their example and guidance are values that I receive with humility and that I will honor with my best effort”, she wrote exactly.
Photos of these words were shared on the X account of the Spanish royal family, demonstrating once again the princess’ readiness to, one day, fulfill her duty to her country.
