Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Thompson, the dashing squire of King Charles III, has made a surprising entry into the top positions of Tatler’s annual Social Power Index.
Thompson, aged 39, gained fame by attending various events within the British monarchy, including King Charles’s coronation.

As a bodyguard and squire in service of the British Crown, he holds a significant role. Additionally, he is part of the Royal Regiment of Scotland in the 5th Battalion and served as the highest-ranking protector of the late Queen Elizabeth II until her passing.

According to the esteemed rankings, the handsome squire holds the third position, trailing only King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
This marks the second consecutive year that the monarchs have claimed the top spots on this prestigious list, which, according to the magazine, reveals “where the real power lies in British society.”
Major Jonathan has unintentionally become a valuable asset to the monarchy, and his presence at events draws crowds who eagerly await glimpses of him and even shout his name.
“Tatler” writes, “The erstwhile Major Johnny has a fabulous sense of humour and looks as good in a suit as he does a kilt.”
The publication further adds, “It is from within palace walls that the King’s equerry wields his unique brand of quiet, charming power, but he’s spotted where it counts, at the Coronation or the opening of the Berntson Bhattacharjee Gallery in Fitzrovia, to which he wore a bunny tie and charmed India Rose James.”
The list also features other members of the royal family, including Prince William and Princess Kate.
