Meghan Markle’s recent appearance at a charity event at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has drawn several reactions, particularly because she attended alone, without Prince Harry.
Last Saturday, October 5, Meghan, 43, once again captured public attention by attending this gala, where she mingled with several celebrities in a spectacular red dress she had previously worn in 2021.
Despite her dazzling presence, the Duchess of Sussex has faced criticism in UK headlines, often for negative reasons.
What did Lizzie Cundy have to say about Meghan Markle?
Lizzie Cundy, a former friend of Meghan’s, was quick to criticize her participation in the event, claiming that the Duchess seems more interested in being photographed than in the charitable purpose of the event.
As reported by “The Daily Mail”, Cundy mentioned: “She seemed to be there for the photographs.”
Cundy, 56, who also attended the event dressed in red. Referring to their similar dresses, Cundy continued to tell The Mail: “I’d have worn a different one if I’d known.”
Lizzie also noted that there was not much warmth among the attendees when Meghan arrived and added that the Duchess was not present for long, which fueled her claims that her main interest was grabbing the attention of the cameras.
He also said that the people of Los Angeles were starting to get a bit tired of Prince Harry’s wife.
Cundy added: “Meghan needs LA more than LA needs her. LA people feel they’ve been played by her.”
Meghan and Cundy’s relationship has cooled since Meghan began her relationship with Prince Harry. Lizzie claimed the Duchess always wanted to be “a London girl.”
Cundy said, “We have a clip of her saying, ‘I want to be a London girl, I love London men and I love everything to do with London.'”
Meghan Markle’s body language
In addition to criticism from former friends, Meghan’s appearance at the gala has been analyzed by body language experts.
Judi James, an expert in this area, explained exclusively to GB News how the Duchess handled her solo appearance on the red carpet.
According to James, despite being a confident woman accustomed to media attention, Meghan showed gestures that could be interpreted as signs of vulnerability or insecurity, suggesting that she might feel “lost without Harry” during this type of event.
She said: “For a confident woman who is used to cameras and red carpets, she acted grateful to see and join her friend.
“The body language ritual that she followed seemed to be a deliberate signalling of her current state, as Harry is off on his solo tour.
“Meghan performed signals of coyness and even shyness, plus a subliminal desire to have someone take over the lead from Harry.
“It was as though she was somehow lost without him on the red carpet or wanted to suggest she is feeling more vulnerable and girlishly playful than usual.”
Meghan was also captured holding the hand of her friend Kelly McKee Zajfen, co-founder of Alliance of Moms, and it seems she wanted to get away from the spotlight as soon as possible.
During her walk down the red carpet, the Duchess was filmed nervously wiggling her fingers as photographers urged her to smile.
An additional point of interest is that it appears Meghan did not even stay at the gala, as photos of the event in which she does not appear have been circulating on social media, fueling the theory that her attendance was merely to parade down the red carpet and garner attention.
