A joke about Prince Harry’s momentous departure from the royals in 2020, uttered by actress Margot Robbie, has taken the internet by storm after resurfacing on TikTok.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, William, and Kate, have become the center of a viral moment as their reaction to the comment has grabbed attention on social media.
Margot Robbie’s Prince Harry joke
The origin of this viral episode dates back to January 2020, when Buckingham Palace confirmed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step aside from their official roles within the royal family.
The announcement followed months of speculation about tensions between the Sussexes and Princes William and Kate.
The couple’s subsequent move to California with their son, Prince Archie, and the birth of their daughter, Princess Lilibet, in 2021 marked a new chapter in their lives.
Barely a month after the Sussexes’ announcement, Prince William and Kate attended the prestigious BAFTA film awards in London.
An epic moment came during actor Brad Pitt’s acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor, awarded for his portrayal of Cliff Booth in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
The veteran actor did not attend the ceremony but Pitt’s co-star Margot Robbie took the stage to read his acceptance speech.
Robbie began reading Pitt’s speech:
“He says that he’s going to name this Harry,” because he’s really excited about bringing it back to the States with him. His words, not mine!” said the actress.
The joke, alluding to Prince Harry’s move overseas, drew laughter from the audience as cameras caught Prince William and Kate’s reactions.
Prince William, who also serves as BAFTA president, and Kate shared a light-hearted moment, with the princess laughing as she turned to her husband, who smiled as he joined in the round of applause.
