Marie Chantal and Queen Letizia have met again in Athens and starred in one of the most commented images.
The cousins-in-law have left behind their differences after several years of confrontation and were seen laughing and with real complicity on the night before the funeral of Constantine of Greece.
Marie Chantal and Queen Letizia
Queen Letizia of Spain and Marie Chantal of Greece were scheduled to meet, but no one expected that both would end up starring in the most striking image.
The origin of the bad relationship between the Queen and Marie goes back to the controversial clash that Letizia starred with Queen Sofia at the gates of the Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca in 2018, when she prevented her from taking a photo with Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia.
After the images went around the world, the wife of Pavlos of Greece, King Philip’s cousin, publicly said the following:
“No grandmother deserves this treatment. She [Letizia] has shown her true face.”
From that moment on, the rift between Letizia Ortiz and Marie Chantal was broken. But now everything has changed, both left the meeting prior to the funeral of the brother of Queen Emeritus Sofia‘s brother arm in arm and very smiling. Aware that photographers would capture the moment both acted as if nothing had ever happened between them.
It is not known if the reconciliation was forged on Sunday night or if they had already talked about it before. What can be confirmed is that this rapprochement is recent, since last September both coincided at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II of England and did not exchange any gestures.
