Last weekend, Máxima of the Netherlands and her daughter, Princess Amalia, attended a wedding in Austria, and as always, they captured all eyes with their elegant outfits.
Queen Maxima, known for her love of long dresses and stunning jewelry, seems to have passed on her taste for fashion to Amalia, the future queen of the Netherlands.
Maxima and Amalia of the Netherlands’ style in Austria
The Dutch royal family, including King Willem-Alexander, his wife Maxima and daughter Amalia, attended the wedding of Countess Leonie of Waldburg-Zeil-Hohenems and Count Caspar Matuschka at the picturesque St. Carlo Borromeo Church in Hohenems.
During the ceremony, Amalia surprised everyone with a Farm Rio dress adorned with bangs and puffed sleeves, while Maxima opted for a striking red design by Natan, complemented with an elegant pamela.
In the evening, at the grand celebration following the ceremony, both looked even more spectacular.
Maxima rescued from her closet a fuchsia dress she had worn for her husband’s 40th birthday in 2007. This design by Edouard Vermeulen for Natan stood out for its strapless neckline and ruffles decorated with lace, and the queen combined it with a matching shawl.
The finishing touch to her outfit was a stunning necklace adorned with diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires, a piece inspired by Cartier’s famous Tutti Frutti necklace. Although not the original, this necklace was a gift from William Alexander, who acquired it along with a matching bracelet at a Christie’s auction in 2007, paying a total of more than $65,000 for both pieces of jewelry.
For her part, Amalia opted for a couture dress by Roland Mouret in a vibrant emerald green color.
This design, with a U-neckline and a straight silhouette, was made of crepe and had a sheer chiffon overlay covering her shoulders and back.
This sophisticated gown is valued at $2,300.
To complete her look, Amalia chose some valuable pieces from the Orange royal jewelry box: earrings and a necklace of emeralds and diamonds, part of the royal family’s emerald parure.
Practically and charmingly, Amalia also carried with her a pair of slippers to change her sandals in case her feet hurt too much while dancing, a common gesture among many women at weddings.
Maxima and Amalia proved once again that they have impeccable style and refined taste, establishing themselves as two of the most elegant and admired royals in Europe.
